Senate of College Councils held it’s second Senate Week this year from February 20th to the 23rd. Round two of Senate Week saw four days of fun filled tabling from our Academic Integrity, Faculty Appreciation, Undergrad Research, and Academic Enrichment committees. Each committee was given its own day to table, talk to students, give away awesome prizes, and hold special events that highlighted their purposes and triumphs. Having already held a Senate Week this first semester, each committee worked to out do themselves and put on a genuinely stupendous week of activities.

On November 19th Senate helped run Ready, Set, Go!, an event for Austin area high school students interested in The University of Texas. The event included mock lectures, financial aid information for students and parents, advice on how to choice your major, a first year panel featuring a few of our LTs, and even a free pizza lunch! The event went out without a hitch, and everyone had a wonderful time! Thanks to all who volunteered and came out for the event!
The Senate family had a Thanksgiving celebration of its own this past Sunday. The night was filled with laughs, warm hugs, funny dance moves, and of course, lots of food! Each big and little group came with tasty treats, and each committee was able to snag fun and festive group photos! Happy Thanksgiving from our family to yours!
As you all know (it's okay if you don't), this year is Senate's 50th Anniversary! Senate's official birth date is November 13, 1966. So to celebrate, we launched a social media campaign, #50daysofSenate, exactly fifty days before the birthday. Each day of the week got a unique hashtag highlighting something different. #executiveMonday highlighted Executive Members of Senate; #teamTuesday spotlighted the different committees in internal Senate; #whatsupWednesday gave updates on current legislation and events; #throwbackThursday highlighted past Senate members; #funfactFriday was about Senate legislation; #spiritSaturday gave the history of the buildings on campus; and #SenateSunday featured some of Senate's history. Below is a compilation of all the #50daysofSenate posts for you to enjoy as a recap! And of course, if the recap wasn't enough, you can always check #50daysofSenate out on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. |
